Navigate Continuous Change

Find the most valuable changes your team can make to evolve it's ability to thrive in an environment of uncertainty and continuous change. Uncover blind spots, get visual feedback on team strengths and weaknesses and support introspection.
The
Continuous Change Navigator
highlights aspects of work that help or hinder a team’s ability to perform. The insight it provides informs retrospectives, improves 1-to-1’s and supports the step-by-step cultivation of autonomy and psychological safety. (Yeah, big claims, but give it a try and .)
To get started, just go ahead, it takes about 5 minutes.

A prototype tool
----------------------
This is a prototype of a new tool built with
. Coda is an amazing platform that allows for rapid interactive product prototyping, and we cannot recommend it enough. As a prototype however, some of the interface elements are fairly raw, but we've made them as usable as possible. .

The Offline Version

The
Continuous Change Navigator
is an interactive version of our tool for co-discovering team blind-spots. To use the offline version:
and print the canvas, as large as you can.
Give every member of your team 6 red and 6 green sticky dots
Get everyone to vote by placing dots in squares, green for strength and red for weakness. (They can vote multiple times for the same square.)

The
Navigator

The
Navigator
has been designed to support the ongoing, iterative evolution of high functioning teams completely at ease in an environment of continuous change. We see the
Navigator
fitting into a “” style, 3 step “Measure → Lean → Act” process, but you can use it as you like.

Measure

The Navigator gathers a set of key metrics and tracks their change over time. The (possibly unique?) provides a data-set that maps a broad range of factors related to systemic performance. and can be submitted at any time.

Learn

The Navigator highlights aspects of the working environment that impact performance. It and to focus retrospectives and reviews. This guidance keeps teams aware of the big picture and helps to prevent blind spots.

Act

Build individual and team capabilities by using the
Navigator
to identify focused training opportunities. Most of us have never been equipped with the skills needed to operate in dynamic, feedback driven environment.

Iterate

The process of developing a team is never complete. Every change will reveal more changes. Keep measuring, keep learning, keep taking action.

Teams are complex systems. Developing team competency requires the simultaneous evolution of many different aspects - each of which is part of an intricate feedback loop. New tools will require updated processes, which will in turn cause roles to evolve which will cause relationships between team members to shift. It is only possible to create a high performing team with a constant stream of small, measurable changes - and a lot of feedback.
The
Navigator
is built on practical systemic framework. It allows us to simplify our focus to 12 possible areas, while being decently confident that we’ve covered all the bases. This systems approach makes it possible to cross reference all sorts of data, and provide some very interesting insights. (But anything that attempts to simplify a complex system to 12 data points is always going to be blunt!)
